Strikes were targeted at weapons systems, bases and other equipment belonging to the Iran-backed group. The UN has condemned what it called an “unlawful” airstrike by Israel on a refugee camp in Tulkarm in the occupied West Bank on Thursday that killed at least 18 people.

U.S. officials told The Associated Press that the U.S. and British militaries struck more than a dozen Houthi targets.

The US has conducted strikes on 15 targets in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen amid intensified attacks on vessels in the Red Sea. Officials from the US Central Command said the strikes were launched "to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer".
