We’re watching two areas in the central tropical Atlantic. The first is Hurricane Kirk. Kirk currently has winds at 85 mph and it is forecast to intensify into the next major hurricane.

Finally, another area of concern is in the Gulf of Mexico where an area of low pressure is expected to form but only has a 30% chance of continuing to develop. Regardless of development, tropical moisture will surge into Florida. Interests along the U.S. Gulf Coast should continue to monitor the progress of this system.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — We’re watching two areas in the central tropical Atlantic. The first is Hurricane Kirk, which strengthened into a major storm and currently has winds at 125 mph and is moving to the northwest at 10 mph. Over the last 24 hours, Kirks winds have increased 40 mph meaning it has rapidly intensified.
