Eddie Murphy will play George Clinton in an upcoming biopic, according to multiple reports Friday. The comedian will portray the music legend in the Amazon MGM Studios film directed by Bill Condon. Clinton shared the news on his Instagram, captioning it with the “👀” emoji.

Rumor has it that Murphy is lined up to take the role of the leader of the Parliament-Funkadelic collective - Dr Funkenstein himself, George Clinton.

The upcoming funk film, which has not yet been given an official title, will be directed by Bill Condon and also produced by Eddie Murphy via his own production company. George Clinton himself will also serve as executive producer for the biopic. Virgil Williams (of Mudbound) will write the film’s script.
