Rausch claims the gang is involved in human trafficking here in Tennessee and, based on its operations in other states, will soon expand into retail theft rings and the drug trade.

After the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's (TBI) spoke about the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua activity, local law enforcement are reacting to his statements.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - State leaders are warning of a dangerous gang that formed in prisons in Venezuela called Tren de Aragua that has been spotted in all major cities in Tennessee. TBI Director David Rausch said the gang has been known for human trafficking and bringing Venezuelan women to the United States and Tennessee illegally.

The violent Venezuelan gang "Tren de Aragua" has resurfaced in Tennessee cities, involved in various crimes including human trafficking and confrontations with cartels.

While state leaders are sharing concerns about a “violent” Venezuelan gang reemerging and operating in major Tennessee cities, Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler said the sheriff’s office’s gang unit does not have any active investigations involving the gang.
