A next-generation Chevrolet Bolt is on the horizon, but GM can’t seem to escape the shadow of its troubled past with the model. The automaker has just issued yet another recall for the older Bolt, a reminder that the headaches of its earlier EV experiment are far from over.

The two recalls are related. A software glitch was triggered by a “malfunction in the software programming tool during servicing” for the prior recall, the NHTSA documents said. That might fail to notify drivers of defective battery parts that need to be replaced, according to the filing.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Tuesday General Motors would recall 107 Bolt EV and EUV vehicles over a fire risk. The recall covers previously repaired Bolt vehicles from model years 2020-2022.
