FDA Investigating Deadly E. Coli Outbreak Linked to Carrots Sold at Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, and More

Various organic whole and baby carrot products are being recalled, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This is following an E. coli outbreak investigation connected to contaminated carrots, resulting in 39 illnesses, 15 hospitalizations and one death.

A recall of organic, bagged whole and baby carrots sold at Trader Joe's, Publix, Wegmans and other retailers around the country has been linked to an E. coli outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. E. coli is a bacteria that can cause serious illness when consumed by certain populations.

Grimmway Farms​, which made and packaged the organic carrots, issued the recall on Saturday after nearly 40 cases were recorded in 18 states.
