Candidates backed by the the local conservative group, Fishers One, were defeated in the races for Hamilton Southeastern School Board’s Delaware Township, Fall Creek Township and Wayne Township seats. The results come just two years after a slate of candidates backed by Fishers One swept their four opponents, taking control of the school board.

The race for Hamilton County sheriff is one of the most talked about races in the area leading up to November, with current Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey is running as a Democrat against her old boss, former Sheriff Jim Neil.

Polls are now closed in Indiana and voters have cast their ballots for about 800 school board seats across the state. In Hamilton County, party politics once again played a role as candidates campaigned for seats on the school boards in Carmel,
