A magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported less than a mile south of Ontario International Airport early Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey says.

A preliminary 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Ontario this afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Shaking was reported in communities east of Los Angeles due to a magnitude-3.1 earthquake in Ontario. The quake with a depth of about 3.5 miles was reported at 12:56 p.m. Weak to light shaking was reported in Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Upland, Riverside and other areas.

A 3.5-magnitude earthquake shook the Southern California area, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The about 3-mile deep quake hit a little more than a mile from Ontario, about a 40-mile drive east from Los Angeles, at 12:56 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, according to the USGS.
